Calhoun County Museum
Matagorda Island Lighthouse Fresnel Lens

The Matagorda Lighthouse went into operation in 1852. It survived the Civil War and numerous hurricanes over its years of operation on the Gulf Coast near Pass Cavallo. The lens now resides in the Calhoun County museum located in Port Lavaca, Texas.

This is a 3rd Order Fresnel Lens. Orders are ranked 1 to 7, with 1 being the largest. The dimension of a third order lens is 4'8" by 3'3".
